Visas to the U.S.

Change in Visa Application Scheduling

The United States Embassy in Kigali, Rwanda is pleased to announce the implementation of an online appointment system for visa applications.  Starting Monday, June 25, 2007, visa applications will be accepted and interviews scheduled by appointment only.  This system will make the application process more efficient.

All applicants (except for holders of diplomatic passports, government officials traveling on official business, and individuals traveling at the invitation of the U.S. Government) must schedule an appointment before submitting their application materials at the Embassy.

Appointments can be scheduled through the following Embassy web page: http://kigali.usembassy.gov/how_to_apply.html.  This page also contains further instructions and information about the visa process as well as access to all required forms. Appointment times for the submission of applications will be available each Monday morning from 8:00am-noon (in the event of a public holiday, appointments will be scheduled for Tuesday morning of the same week from 8:00am-noon).  Multiple appointments for the same person will be canceled.

When the application is submitted, each applicant will receive an interview time (to the extent possible, interviews will be scheduled within two weeks of the date that the application is received).  A visa decision is usually provided at the end of the interview, but some cases may require extended processing.

All visa applicants are encouraged to start the process early.  As of Monday, June 25, 2007 no visa applicants (except for those individuals in the categories identified above) will be allowed to enter the Embassy without first scheduling an appointment online.
