Consular Fee Changes
(March 2, 2005)
The Consular Section of the United States Embassy announces a change in the application fee for non-immigrant visas.
In order to ensure that the U.S. State Department recovers the costs of consular services through user fees, some costs for passport and citizenship services will change as of March 8, 2005. The last increases were in 2002.
Fee for U.S. passports will increase by a $12 surcharge to enhance security. This will change a child’s passport fee to $52 and the adult passport fee to $67.
Fee for File Search and Verification of U.S. Citizenship will increase from $45 to $60.
Fee for Fraud Prevention and Detection in H-1B and L visas will be $500. This new fee applies only to the principal applicant, not spouses or children.
Fee for immigrant visa (IV) increased by $45 to $ 380.
Fee for Affidavit of Support Review will increase from $65 to $70.
Fee for Returning Resident Processing will increase from $360 to $400.
Fee for Diversity V (DV) Lottery surcharge has increased from $100 to $375.
Fee for issuance of a transportation Letter for a Legal Permanent Resident to the U.S. will decrease from $300 to $165.
Fee for a J-visa waiver will decrease from $230 to $215.
