H1N1 Virus Information

WARDEN MESSAGE
U.S. EMBASSY KIGALI

This Warden Message is to inform U.S. citizens that with back-to-school season upon us, it’s time to think about staying healthy.  The U.S. Government remains concerned about the possibility of a severe influenza pandemic resulting from changes in the 2009-H1N1 virus or emergence of an even newer influenza virus that may affect those abroad.  The U.S. Embassy Kigali will be hosting a panel discussion on August 26th at 1:00pm for Kigali-based school officials to share with them the most current information on the H1N1 virus.  If you would be interested in attending this event, please send an e-mail to:  consularkigali@state.gov.
We are posting below the links to the same information that will be provided at the panel discussion.  Please review this information and share it with your families, colleagues, schools, and communities.

U.S. citizens living or traveling in Rwanda are encouraged to register with the nearest U.S. Embassy or Consulate through the State Department’s travel registration website (http://www.travel.state.gov/travel/tips/registration/registration_1186.html) so that they can obtain updated information on travel and security within Rwanda.  Americans without Internet access may register directly with the U.S. Embassy in Rwanda (http://rwanda.usembassy.gov/).  By registering, American citizens make it easier for the Embassy or Consulate to contact them in case of emergency.  The U.S. Embassy is located at 2657 Avenue de la Gendarmerie; the mailing address is B.P. 28, Kigali, Rwanda; tel. [250] (252) 596-400; fax: [250] (252) 596-591.  The Consular Section’s email address is consularkigali@state.gov.  American Citizen Services hours are Tuesdays from 9:00 -17:00 and Fridays from 9:00 - 12:00 except on U.S. and Rwandan holidays.  In case of emergency after hours or on weekends/holidays, please call [250] 078.830.0345.
