SEVIS Fee
If you will be applying for an initial F-1 or J-1 Student Visa to enter the United States and your I-20 or DS-2019 has been issued on or after September 1, 2004, you might be required to pay a SEVIS fee to the U.S. government before you can appear for your visa interview at the U.S. Consulate / Embassy. Most new students will need to pay the SEVIS fee, but there are some exceptions. International students already in the U.S. and transferring or changing program or degree level might not need to pay the fee. The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) office maintains a Web site with detailed information about the new SEVIS fee. Please open the ICE browser (see URL below) and carefully read the instructions about who pay the SEVIS fee and how to pay the SEVIS fee. The SEVIS fee can be paid through the mail or on-line with a credit card. We encourage you to use the on-line payment method as it is much faster than paying by mail. After reading the instructions and frequently asked questions, open the browser for the on-line SEVIS Fee Payment Web site (see URL below) and complete the online payment form. After you obtain your SEVIS Fee receipt, you will be able to appear for your visa interview. If you are not able to access the On-line SEVIS Fee Payment Web site, use the paper form available below or contact UB International Admissions and a form can be faxed to you (however, please note that the paper form may take more than one month to process and thus you would be delaying your visa interview.)
