Visa Requirements for Third Countries

Visa Requirements for Countries with Embassies in Kigali:
(Information is for tourist visas for visits of less than 90 days.)

Canada – no visa required for American citizens.

UK - no visa required for American citizens.

Switzerland – No visa required for American citizens. 

EU Schengen zone countries - no visa required for American citizens.

South Africa – No visa required, but must have valid yellow vaccination card to enter.  Please find details and contact information at: http://www.saembassy-kigali.org.rw/ .

Russia – Visa required.  Forms can be picked up from Russian Embassy in Kiyovu.  $60, visa ready within 2 weeks.  Please visit: http://www.rwanda.mid.ru/cons for more.

China – Visa required.  Find forms, prices and instructions at: http://rw.chineseembassy.org/ or call 250-500-047.

Burundi – Visa required, can be purchased at Embassy of Burundi in Kacyiru.  Applications received Monday 9-12, passports may be picked up Thursday 9-1600.  $40-90, valid for a single entry within a month.  Please contact: ambabukgl1@yahoo.fr  or 250-587-940 for more details.

Egypt – Visa required; one photo, application form, 2-3 working days.  Can be purchased from Egyptian Embassy in Kacyiru ; single entry tourist visa – Rwf 12000, transit visa - Rwf 12900, multiple entry – Rwf 25500.  Applications accepted every day at noon and passports returned daily at 1700.  Please contact: egypt@rwanda1.com  for more info.

Kenya –Visa required, can be purchased on arrival or at Kenyan Embassy in Kacyiru. Visa Hours are 9.00 a.m - 12.00 p.m., Monday to Friday. 3 month visa or single entry costs $50, Transit visa costs $20, one year multiple entry visa costs $110; single entry visas permit travel to Tanzania and Uganda and re-entry into Kenya. Tanzania – Visa, yellow fever vaccination required; visa can be purchased on arrival or at Tanzanian Embassy in Nyarutarama; M-Th 8-1530, F 8-1230; $30-100, 2 passport photos, 2 application forms; please contact 250-505-400 for more details.

Uganda – Visa required, can be purchased at port of entry or at Ugandan Embassy in town.  Please see: http://www.ugandaembassy.rw/ for details. Two passport photos, two identification forms, $30-50; applications accepted Monday -Friday from 8-1700.  Turnaround time is 1-2 days but flexible depending on urgency.

 

There is no Ethiopian Embassy in Kigali but transit and tourist visas can be obtained upon arrival at the port of entry.  The Honorary Consul of India can be reached at: 250-571-016/7 or 250(0)830-0740 / (0)849-8847, and is located at PO Box 616 Kigali, 2nd Floor Albert Supply Bldg., opp. Ice & Spice Restaurant. The closest Italian Embassy is in Kampala, Uganda but a local representative can be contacted at: consolatoitalia@rwanda1.com .  There is no Embassy for the Democratic Republic of Congo in Kigali, but visas can be purchased at the port of entry; $150 for one month.
